Twitter is busy tonight!
There are at least two, maybe three (can’t quite keep up) awesome Twitter chats happening around literacy topics. I’m hopping back and forth, trying not to get tangled up in the threads of questions and answers flying through cyberspace. I love reading Twitter chats, although I am not brave enough yet to actually participate. It is fascinating, though, how the ideas bounce back and forth!
But speaking of things bouncing, my next challenge is this—my favorite men’s college basketball team is playing in the Big 12 Tournament tonight and I don’t have access to the cable channel showing the game. So I am going to have to follow it on Twitter.
It’s interesting to read the perspectives and the word choice of the person who is tweeting about the game. There are always lots of fun facts thrown in. But it gets so frustrating when the action gets intense and the tweets come too slowly. (Of course, anything besides “instantly” is “too slowly”). I can’t tell what is happening! There has been more than one occasion where a tweet has come across saying something like “Wow! Game changer!” and I jump up and walk around in circles saying “WHAT? WHAT??” It seems to take forever for the next tweet to come through.
“Watching” basketball on Twitter is not really as much fun as reading the literacy chats…
But I’ll be there! Go Iowa State Cyclones! And to the person faithfully doing the Twitter feed…may your fingers be swift! Keep ’em coming! I’m thankful for every update.
Inside Recess Again 
This is so silly and so true! Nothing quite beats actually watching the game but faithful fans will tune in from anywhere. My husband is currently devoted to the TV with his Wisconsin Badgers freak-flag flying high 🙂 Great Slice, fun to read and totally relateable!

Living on the other side of the planet there has been more than one occasion we have had to get interesting about following a sporting event. Twitter is one of the ways I choose. I agree, a study in word choice. 🙂

I love Twitter chats, but thanks to my time zone often have to only read the archive (happy for those). I can’t imagine following a game this way- hard! Now the image of Twitter ball is in my mind!

There were some amazing chats last night. I’m hoping to catch up on them by reading through the archives. I suppose that’s kinda like reading the sports pages of the newspaper, right?

If you are on your computer, TweetDeck is one way to follow chats fairly easily. You can set the columns up to be any hashtag that you like. I’ve not followed any sports events on twitter but I can imagine how agonizing and slow the updates may be! ❤
